Ontario teen lies about kidnapping after parents said he couldn’t visit friends: police

A 15-year-old Ontario boy has been charged with public mischief after calling police to say he was kidnapped, but officers discovered the teen was unhappy that his parents said he couldn’t visit a friend’s house.

Officers in the OPP’s Elgin County detachment got a 911 call Saturday from the 15-year-old to report he was kidnapped by two people.

He told police he was in the back of an SUV travelling on Highway 401 in southwestern Ontario.

Police found the vehicle, spoke with the occupants and discovered the 911 report was fake.

Elgin-St. Thomas Paramedics were called to treat the teen after he began hyperventilating. He was cleared by paramedics and then charged by police.
