Have you ever wanted to keep track of all the creepy clowns in your neighbourhood?

Well, of course, there’s an app for that.

Three Montreal students have created a new smart phone app called Clown Spotter to report the location of creepy clowns.

Saleem Usama is one of the students behind the new online software, allowing users to report the location of people dressed in clown masks or costumes.

“There are so many sightings going on, we have to work on which ones are real and which ones are not,” Usama told Global News.

The 18-year-old John Abbott College student plans to release an updated version of the app that will require users to take photos of the clowns before reporting a sighting.

Usama hopes Clown Spotter will be a useful tool as Halloween approaches.

Montreal police has received nine reports of creepy clowns in the last three years.

Recently, sightings and threats of people dressed up has spiked in the U.S.

“If you’re scared by someone having a mask or bizarre behaviour, don’t hesitate to call 911 or go to your local police station,” Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture told Global News.

Wearing a mask isn’t a crime, but police are asking people to report any suspicious behaviour.
