Meet Miss Rodeo Canada

Arleta Marcia Bowhay 

Arleta Marcia Bowhay, the second of four children for Jim and Nola Bowhay of Sundre Alberta, was born January 26, 1992. Her arrival brought a sparkle into the family.

 

A life of strong personal and moral values defines Arleta! She was home schooled which enabled participation in her family’s mixed farming operation and volunteer work for her community. She is an innovative promoter of agriculture values.

Arleta is an accomplished pianist and singer. She attended summer camps for several years. While at Circle Square Ranch she successfully completed the ‘Leaders in Training’ program, ending with her position as camp leader for 5 years. As a volunteer staff member, her leadership responsibilities enabled her to utilize her equine skills to teach riding lessons and the theory of horsemanship. She has also taken up competitive team roping and won the #8 category in the Sundre Super Six Roping last August.

Arleta’s 10 year involvement in 4-H has been an integral part of her personal and professional development. Her commitment to 4-H helped her become a gifted public speaker and win many awards. Her 4-H Club involvement included 10 years in beef and 7 years in horse. In her final year she was a junior leader in the canine project. Arleta held numerous 4-H executive positions including 3 years as Club President for the Bergen 4-H Multi Club.

Arleta’s experience grew, both at the camp and at 4-H. Her confident, warm personality and natural leadership strengths have presented her with many mentorship opportunities. The synergy of her positive attributes combined with her warm congruent personality, especially towards young people, triggers positive action!

Arleta has been exposed to Rodeo her entire life. Her dream came true when she was crowned Miss Rodeo Sundre 2009. She took this responsibility very seriously – proudly representing her hometown and Pro Rodeo throughout her reign.

Arleta plans to complete her Olds College Business Administration program majoring in marketing. She’s looking forward to a pursuing a professional career as a communications representative where she can apply her business acumen, vibrant personality and western heritage.

The Crowning of Miss Rodeo Canada will occur during the afternoon performance of CFR on Saturday November 10th. There is a reception taking place in between the two performances that day at the Playbook Lounge at Northlands Park. Tickets are $25 per person.
