Heavy rain is expected to hit much of western Manitoba Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning Monday evening after a slow moving band of heavy rain and thunderstorms developed over the western Parklands. Certain areas already received 20 to 30 millimeters of rain earlier Monday and an additional 30 to 40 mm is expected overnight.
The thunderstorms and heavy rain should stop overnight but light rain could continue into Tuesday.
Environment Canada warns people in the area that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water to pool on roads.
Areas under the rainfall warning:
- Dauphin – Russell – Roblin – Winnipegosis
- Minnedosa – Riding Mountain National Park
- Ste. Rose – McCreary – Alonsa – Gladstone
- Virden – Souris
- Melita – Boissevain – Turtle Mountain Provincial Park
