A makeshift store has been set up in a gym in an old school in the community. The North West Company flew up several refrigeration units over the weekend to keep the perishable items cool, according to a news release. Food and basic necessities were handed out to hundreds of members of the community Sunday.

RCMP believe six youths were involved in sparking the blaze.  A 12-year-old boy was arrested in connection to the fire.

Shamattawa First Nation lies roughly 740 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
