A small group of students will meet the royal couple when they first arrive on campus Tuesday.

After the Duke and Duchess meet the first set of students, they will head to a public ceremony in the university courtyard, then on to the gymnasium where they’ll watch an inter-squad game between the nationally-acclaimed UBCO Heat women’s volleyball team.

The team’s three captains will be tasked with giving the royal couple a gift after the game.

“We didn’t believe this was true at first,” captain Megan Festival said.

She even joked that with Kate’s athletic past, the Duchess could have a spot on the team.

“I think she should come in her athletic gear and be ready to play. I have no doubt [coach] Steve [Manuel] would take her if she wanted to play,” Festival grinned.

Both admit they’re a bit nervous about meeting Will and Kate, but know its the chance of a lifetime.
