Kelowna-Mission MLA Steve Thomson has put any rumours about his political future to rest.

Thomson, who was first elected as a Liberal MLA in 2009, has announced he will be seeking another term.

There was growing speculation that Thompson was not going to run again. He’s in his mid-sixties.

But Premier Christy Clark says Thomson will indeed be running again and said he has been acclaimed as the party’s candidate for Kelowna-Mission in next spring’s election.

Thomson is Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations.

“It has been an honour to serve and be your voice and I look forward to working to get even more accomplished in 2017 and beyond,” said Thomson.

Next spring’s election takes place May 9, 2017.
