Two teenagers charged after Tuesday morning crime spree in Regina

Regina police have charged a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl after a string of vehicle thefts on Sept. 13.

At around 7:52 a.m., Regina police were called to the North McDonald Street and Hodsman Road for a collision and a rollover. According to police, Witnesses told officers that a grey Jeep had rolled over and the occupants of the Jeep exited the vehicle.

Witnesses said they then got into a blue car before fleeing the scene.

Then at 8:48 a.m. police were called to a business on the 1700 block of Prince of Wales Drive where it was reported that blue vehicle was in an accident. When police arrived, they arrested a boy and a girl.

Police said a third person also fled in a black truck that was driven by a woman and a police vehicle was damaged attempting to stop the truck. The truck evaded police and fled.

The blue vehicle was confirmed to be stolen and police said it is possible that it is the same vehicle that fled from the accident on McDonald Street and Hodsman Road.

On Wednesday, police said a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing eight charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

A 16-year-old girl, who also cannot be named, is facing two charges of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both the boy and girl appeared in provincial youth court Wednesday morning.
