Penticton cop charged in connection with young boy’s death

PENTICTON – A Penticton Mountie has been charged after he allegedly struck and killed a child with his personal vehicle while off-duty.

Five-year-old James Christian McIntosh was run over by a pickup truck last September while pushing his bicycle through a crosswalk on Highway 97 at Green Mountain Road in Penticton.

RCMP Constable Ace Jimmy Stewart has been charged with driving without due care and attention under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Stewart makes his first court appearance October 12th in Penticton.
