Truck slams into Halifax police cruiser, takes off

A Halifax Regional Police vehicle was struck by a truck early Monday morning.

Police say at around 3:00 a.m. an officer was responding to a call for back-up in the area of Brunswick Street and Prince Street.

A grey Toyota truck collided with the officer’s police cruiser. The driver of the vehicle then reversed and sped off.

With help from the public, police were able to locate the truck travelling outbound on the 102 near the Dunbrack exit.

According to a release from police, a 19-year-old is in custody.

The officer that was in the cruiser was treated at the scene by EHS and released.

The investigation is ongoing.
