The demand for artificial turf is up in Calgary, according to Brad Hall with SYNLawn.
Hall said his company has tracked a 20 to 40 per cent increase in demand over the last number of years, something he attributes to the lower cost of the product.
One Calgarian who swapped real for fake grass last year, said she could not be happier with her choice.
Kirsten Tudor said she put artificial turf along with a putting green in her yard last year.
Tudor said her dogs were killing the grass and her kids never wanted to play in the yard anymore so she decided to start over.
According to Scott Stoner from Blue Grass Garden Centre, one of the only drawbacks to the fake grass is that it absorbs heat. As a result, in the middle of a hot, sunny day, the lawn can get extra toasty.
