Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to the scene of a four-vehicle collision on Highway 63 in northern Alberta Monday afternoon.
The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 63 and the Fort McKay entrance, north of Fort McMurray.
RCMP said two men in their thirties died. A third man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A fourth man escaped unharmed.
RCMP said they continue to investigate whether speed was a factor in the collision, but drugs and alcohol do not appear to be.
The southbound lanes of Highway 63 at the entrance to Fort McKay were shut down late Monday afternoon.
North and southbound traffic was alternating in the northbound lanes of Highway 63 as of 4:45 p.m. Monday.
Traffic was back to normal on Tuesday morning.
