TAVISTOCK, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the driver of a compact black car that left the scene of a fatal accident late Tuesday night.
OPP say just before 11 p.m., the car was travelling east on Perth Line 26 just west of Tavistock when the driver began to pass a van even as another car was approaching from the opposite direction.
The driver of the approaching car, a Pontiac Grand Prix, had to veer onto the gravel shoulder to avoid the compact car and lost control.
It veered back onto the road and was t-boned on the passenger side by the van.
The 26-year-old man driving the Grand Prix, Jason Ramtahal of Kitchener, died of his injuries in hospital while the 49-year-old Tavistock man driving the van suffered minor injuries.
OPP say the black compact car, possibly a Kia or Honda, failed to stop or remain at the scene and was last seen heading toward Tavistock.
