RCMP are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking down the middle of a highway in northern Alberta early Sunday morning.

Police said officers were called to Highway 881 at marker 251 kilometres at 1:19 a.m.
Mounties did not say what led to the crash but were still rerouting traffic in the area at 2 p.m.
