Rio 2016: What’s on tap for Canada on Day 10 at the Rio Games

Team Canada kept their streak alive of at least a medal a night and a Canadian male athlete won its first medal at the Games Sunday. Team Canada now looks ahead to a busy Day 10 at Rio 2016.

Here are some events to watch in Day 10 at Rio 2016.

Canoe

There will be eight preliminary and semifinal races Monday morning. London 2012’s bronze medallist Mark Oldershaw of Burlington, Ont. is a contender for Canada. (8:00 a.m. ET)

Swimming

Canada’s Stephanie Horner will race in the open water marathon. She made the switch to outdoors after swimming in the pool for Canada in the last two Olympic Games. (8:00 a.m. ET)

Gymnastics

Isabela Onyshko of Brandon, Man. will represent Canada in the beam finals. Medals will also be handed out for men’s vault and men’s rings. (1:00 p.m. ET)

Track and Field

Reigning world champing Shawnacy Barber will be seen in the men’s pole vault final. The Canadian became the youngest ever to clear six metres earlier this year. (7:30 p.m. ET)

Canadian Brandon McBride of Windsor, Ont. will run in the 800m Monday night. He’ll have a tough time going up against Kenya’s David Rudisha, the current Olympic champion and world record holder (9:25 p.m. ET)
