Rio 2016: Canadian men fall to Cuba in beach volleyball

Canada’s Chaim Schalk and Ben Saxton have lost to Cuba in beach volleyball.

The Cuban pair of Nivaldo Nadhir Diaz Gomez and Sergio Reynaldo Gonzalez Bayard dominated the game from the first set – leading the Canadians by a wide margin.

Canada looked stronger in the second set, but were not able to pull ahead of the Cubans. The Cubans scored two aces and were the stronger blockers overall by far. They finished the game in two straight sets.

Cuba finished at the top of its pool with three wins. Schalk and Saxton finished with one win and two losses.
