Vehicle restrictions on Kelowna’s Knox Mountain due to fire hazard

Road closures at Knox Mountain Park are not unusual as shown in this June 2015 file photo.

KELOWNA – After a fire at Knox Mountain Park Tuesday, part of the popular Kelowna recreation area remains closed to vehicle traffic.

The city said Wednesday, vehicles will only be allowed to the first lookout because the fire risk is currently considered extreme.

Bikers and hikers will still be allowed throughout Knox Mountain Park.

The vehicle restriction will stay in place until the fire risk decreases.

The park was closed Tuesday afternoon as officials dealt with a small wildfire near a roadway.
