Rio 2016: Olympic rowing cancelled due to weather

All Olympic rowing races were cancelled Wednesday due to poor weather.

According to a tweet from World Rowing, the global governing body of the sport, all racing has been postponed and a new schedule will be announced soon.

Medals were set to be awarded in three of the 11 rowing events Wednesday.

Team Canada was due to compete in multiple rowing events including men’s coxless four, women’s coxed eight, men’s quadruple sculls, and women’s coxless pair.

Carling Zeeman of Cambridge, Ontario was aiming for a podium finish in women’s single sculls. Two Victoria rowers – Patricia Obee and Lindsay Jennerich – were also set to compete in the women’s lightweight double sculls final.
