Pedestrian struck by tractor trailer in Winnipeg upgraded to ‘guarded condition’

WINNIPEG — A man struck by a tractor trailer Friday afternoon in downtown Winnipeg has since been upgraded from critical to guarded condition.

Winnipeg police said they believe the 51-year-old may have lost his balance while panhandling at the intersection of Higgins Avenue and Main Street, causing him to fall into the westbound lanes. He was then struck by the tractor trailer at around 12:40 p.m.
