Severe weather hammers southern Manitoba

Powerful winds, damaging hail and heavy downpours pass through southern Manitoba Wednesday evening.

Environment Canada placed much of the province under severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings for much of the afternoon and into the evening.

A number of elements came into play creating the “severe supercell thunderstorms” that developed over southeast Saskatchewan in the afternoon. The system moved into southern Manitoba in the evening.

Large hail could form and damage property, break windows and cause injury.

Several Manitobans and storm chasers took to social media as the line of thunderstorms moves through the province. Some reporting tornado, funnel cloud sightings and lots of damage.
