Ivanka Trump ‘wouldn’t allow herself’ to be sexually harassed, says Eric Trump

Donald Trump‘s son Eric has prompted outrage with his comments that sister Ivanka Trump “wouldn’t allow herself” to be subjected to sexual harassment in the workplace.

“Ivanka is a strong, powerful woman, she wouldn’t allow herself to be objected to it,” Eric Trump said to CBS News.

He also offered advice for anyone dealing with workplace harassment, saying “you should take it up with human resources,” adding that’s what his sister would do because Ivanka’s a “strong person.”

“At the same time, I don’t think she would allow herself to be subjected to that.”

Eric made the statement while defending comments his father made to USA Today on Monday, when he was asked how he would feel if his daughter were to face sexual harassment.

“I would like to think she [Ivanka] would find another career or find another company if that was the case,” Donald said.

Ivanka Trump has built an empire, with a clothing line and lifestyle brand. She has been a prominent figure on her father’s campaign trail and there was even buzz she would be chosen as the Republican presidential nominee’s running mate.

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson, whose sexual harassment suit against Roger Ailes prompted his recent resignation from the company, slammed the Trumps’ comments on Twitter.

“Sad in 2016 we’re still victim blaming women. Trust me I’m strong,” Carlson wrote.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who called a truce with Donald Trump after an ongoing and very public feud, tweeted a one-word response to Eric’s comments: “Sigh.”

Other Twitter users fired back at Eric’s comments, accusing him of victim blaming.

Ivanka spoke up Tuesday in light of the backlash against her father and brother in an interview with Fox News.

“Sexual harassment is inexcusable in any setting,” Ivanka Trump said. “If it transpires it needs to be reported and it needs to be dealt with on a company level.”
