Direct flights from Orlando to Regina starting in October

Regina will soon have the province’s only direct flight to the sunshine state.

Starting Oct. 26, a once-weekly seasonal direct non-stop flight to Orlando, Fla. will be available at the Regina International Airport through WestJet.

“We are pleased to announce the news of this weekly seasonal service with WestJet,” Richmond Graham, president and CEO of the Regina Airport Authority, said.

“Service to Florida is an important market to our passengers with Orlando being one of our top unserved destinations and one of our top four transborder destinations.”

According to the Regina Airport Authority, it worked closely with the Orlando airport to secure this route.

“WestJet’s decision to introduce service between Regina, Saskatchewan in Canada and Orlando International Airport represents more than just opening a gateway to our 16th Canadian destination,” Phil Brown, executive director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, said.

“This new service also expands the borders of free trade and leisure travel and strengthens our bonds with one of our most prolific international travel partners.”

The flight will have a capacity of 130 people and will run until Apr. 27, 2017.
