The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency has received accreditation with commendation from Accreditation Canada, the second highest standing a health organization can receive.
“This is a significant achievement for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, which puts patients first by providing high quality care and treatment for cancer patients here in Saskatchewan,” said Dustin Duncan, the province’s health minister.

The survey, which takes place every four years, assesses four key areas – leadership, governance, clinical programs and services. Accreditation Canada then looks at compliance with nationally accepted standards for patient care.
The cancer agency met 100 per cent of Accreditation Canada’s required organizational practices for safety and quality improvement.
“Being awarded accreditation with commendation reflects the tremendous dedication of our staff towards quality improvement and safety,” said Scott Livingstone, president and CEO of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
“We have continued to improve and have achieved a personal best for our organization, having gone beyond the requirements of Accreditation Canada against nationally recognized best practice standards.”

The next survey takes place in 2020.
