A wanted man in Milford, Michigan, walked himself into police custody while playing the popular mobile game, Pokemon Go.
Police said 26-year-old William Wilcox was wanted for failing to appear in court for a breaking and entering charge.
“He was coming here because he knew that the Milford police building is a gym in the game of Pokemon Go,” police chief Tom Lindberg told ABC-affiliate WXYZ.
Lindberg said Wilcox was seen wandering around outside the station near a flagpole, wearing his pajamas.
“He either forgot that he had a warrant out for his arrest or was just ignoring it thinking nothing will happen,” he said.
Officers recognized Wilcox through the window and arrested him without incident.
“He made our job much easier for us that day,” said Lindberg.
The chief noted that Wilcox appeared more upset about having to stop playing the game than getting arrested.
The man was released on personal bond and is free to continue playing the game until his day in court.
