The B.C. Coroners Service says the man killed while climbing Giants Head Mountain in Summerland on Thursday is Gael Julian D’Ostie-Racine.
The 23-year-old was free-climbing on the mountain, which is near the orchard he worked at as a fruit picker, according to the coroners service.
“Other workers from the camp witnessed his fall more than 100 metres down a cliff face,” regional coroner Larry Marzinzik said in a news release.
“One of the other workers, who has first-aid training, was able to reach him, but he could not be resuscitated.”
D’Ostie-Racine, originally from Montreal, was in the Okanagan for summer work.
