An Edmonton man has been sentenced for defrauding several people out of their money.
Strathcona RCMP said Garry Harold Dzogolyk befriended people and convinced them to buy share for a company Dzogolyk said he was a primary shareholder. He wasn’t a shareholder and the victim’s money wasn’t invested into any company.

Dzogolyk was charged with five counts of false statement for financial gain and eight counts of fraud.
The 58-year-old received 586 days in credit for time served, and the judge ordered him to pay back his victims.

To avoid being a victim of fraud, RCMP recommend checking the registration and background of the person asking you to invest and not committing to an investment that you’re asked to make a decision on immediately.
