Fire crews and RCMP responded to a semi-truck on fire on a highway in western Alberta Monday night.
Emergency personnel were called at 11:45 p.m. to a spot on Highway 43, about 40 kilometres south of Fox Creek near Two Creeks, Alta.
When they arrived, firefighters and RCMP could hear ammunition going off inside the fire. The driver said he was transporting ammunition in the trailer.
Officials stopped traffic in both directions for approximately 30 minutes until it was safe.
No injuries were reported.
According to RCMP, the fire was not suspicious in nature and likely started because of a “mechanical failure.”
Two Creeks is roughly 230 kilometres west of Edmonton.
