Drivers and pedestrians are being targeted in a TTC streetcar enforcement campaign this week.

Toronto police are warning both riders and motorists to be alert when streetcars are stopped to pick up and drop off passengers.

The enforcement blitz begins Tuesday and ends on Thursday with officers patrolling main streetcar routes in the downtown core during the morning and afternoon rush hour.

Transit users are being told to look both ways before disembarking while drivers are reminded to make a full stop and to be ready for the unexpected.

Motorists who do not stop can face a fine of $110 and three demerit points.

Authorities say 64 million passengers use TTC streetcars each year.
