As dry conditions persist across southern Ontario, residents and businesses in the Toronto area are being asked to voluntarily conserve water wherever possible.

Despite a number of isolated showers over the last week, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority says the area still needs rain.

Since the beginning of May, Pearson International Airport has recorded approximately 75 millimetres of rainfall — about 60 per cent below normal.

All water users in York, Peel and Durham are being asked to reduce indoor and outdoor water use by 10 per cent.
