QUEBEC – Bernard Drainville, the Leader of the House for the Parti Quebecois is set to announce Tuesday that he is leaving politics to host a radio show.

Drainville, 53, was first elected to office in the Marie-Victorin riding in 2007 after a stint as a journalist for Radio-Canada.
Under Pauline Marois’ government, Drainville was the minister responsible for democratic institutions, tabling the controversial Charter of Quebec Values.

Drainville pulled out of the 2015 PQ leadership race to back Pierre-Karl Peladeau who resigned as party leader in early May of this year.
Drainville is expected to replace former MNA Nathalie Normandeau on FM93, who was suspended without pay from the station following her UPAC arrest in March. He is expected to make the announcement on Tuesday in Longueuil.
