Two Toronto cab drivers are facing 23 charges after police allege they “switched” customers’ debit cards when paying their taxi fare and withdrew their money.
Toronto police launched an investigation into the alleged card switching in the fall of 2015, after receiving complaints from customers who said their card had been switched with one that resembled their bank’s.
Police said the drivers would then use the cards to take out money or purchase retail merchandise.
