Families looking for a way to enjoy the summer-like temperatures forecast for later this week may want to check out some spray parks that opened for weekends-only this year.
The Rotary Park spray park in Crescent Heights, Canmore spray park in Charleswood and the Valleyview spray park in West Dover all opened on May 21 for weekends and stat holidays.
The South Glenmore spray park opens June 4 for weekends and stats only.
“Because it has been warm and we knew were going to get asked, we were able to staff them and open them earlier than normal,” said Thalia McCrae, a spokesperson for Calgary Parks.
An El Nino weather pattern has helped Calgary to break several temperature records this year, including at least one in April and another in May.

Earlier this spring, officials said the city would consider opening some spray parks early if temperatures stayed unusually warm.
The water attractions will open daily on June 18, weather permitting, along with most of the city’s spray parks and wading pools.
The Prairie Winds wading pool is closed for the entire 2016 season.
Wading pools, spray parks and outdoor pools are typically open from mid-June (weather dependent) until Labour Day.
