The professional dog trainer who lost seven dogs and two cats in a Burnaby house fire on Tuesday night has been dealt another blow.

Sometime overnight thieves pried open the door of Dove Cresswell’s damaged rental suite and ransacked the place. They stole jewelry and electronics, including a video camera and two hard drives with some of the last images of the animals alive.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Cresswell is desperate to get the pictures and video back. She’s pleading with the thief to mail them to her – no questions asked.

The stolen camera is a small, red Sony brand with Star Wars stickers on it. Two small, black portable hard drives, each the size of a deck of cards, are also missing.

“Bring the stuff back. This woman is devastated. She’s lost the pictures, the last images she took of her animals. It’s just a heinous crime,” said Burnaby RCMP Staff Sgt. Maj. John Buis.

RCMP are investigating, but so far, have no suspects.

Friends have set up a bank account for donations to help Cresswell following this latest incident. To donate, go to any TD-Canada Trust branch and make a donation to: Transit #93230, Account #6401170 (the name on the account is Nina Durante). All proceeds will go directly to Cresswell.
