One man is in hospital following a shooting in Halifax’s north end Tuesday night, and police are looking for two suspects.

A 20-year-old Halifax man is suffering from what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to a police report from Staff Sgt. Greg Mason.

Shots were heard northwest of Duffus Street and Novalea Drive and witnesses reported seeing a vehicle fleeing the area. Police responded to the 5000 block of Drummond Court around 7:15 p.m.

The man was later found suffering from gunshot wounds near Charles and Gottingen streets in a white Hyundai hatch-back that matched witness descriptions of the car fleeing the scene further north, Mason said. At least one of the car windows was smashed out.

Gottingen Street was closed between Uniacke and North streets for a few hours Tuesday evening as police conducted their investigation.

The investigation is being led by the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, at last report no arrests had been made.

Police say they are looking for two black men in their 20s in relation to the incident.

Another in a rash of shootings

Tuesday night’s shooting is the fifth in a series of shootings in the city in recent weeks, and the second to close off a portion of Gottingen Street.

Four young black men were shot and killed within four weeks of each other in late March-early April.

Police have said they’re putting all the resources they can into getting to the bottom of the recent string of gun violence.

Investigators have not said whether Tuesday’s shooting is related to the others.
