Almost 50 people spent the afternoon at the Artful Dodger role playing an apocalyptic town. – May 14, 2016

REGINA – The town of Romero has an arsonist on the loose, a possible viral outbreak and marshal law has been declared.

The scenario is part of a Megagame, a large day-long game involving teams of players. The Urban Nightmare is a Megagame put together by ‘play with your food,’ a division of SaskGames.

“A city in a fictional state has been overrun with medical cases and they’re discovering that it’s actually a zombie apocalypse,” explained Play with your food chairman Murray Bennett.

Players are only given minimal information to resolve the apocalyptic scenario. According to the rules, there is no single winner or loser. They must all save humanity together, but not everyone can be trusted.

The Artful Dodger Cafe was full of 50 players.

But saving humanity isn’t just a part of the game. Proceeds will be going to Souls Harbor Rescue Mission, and Bennett said they hope to raise $40,000 for them by the end of the year.
