MONTREAL — One lucky winner from Sorel-Tracy, in Montreal’s Montérégie region, took home the $50-million Lotto Max jackpot in last Friday’s draw.
Marie-Claude Turcotte bought her ticket at the local IGA on Poliquin Boulevard, and went back the next day to see if she had won.
“I thought it was an error because it was too big,” she said.
Turcotte explained when she scanned her ticket, all she saw were zeros and thought there was a machine error.

A store clerk quickly validated her prize — the only winning numbers in the entire country.
Turcotte explained she was so stunned that she walked out of the grocery store and forgot all about her shopping.
“I went to see my husband in the car and I came back into the store to buy everything,” she laughed, adding that she also bought some flowers and champagne to celebrate.

As she walked around, Turcotte said she heard people say “apparently, the $50-million prize winner is in the store right now.”
The first thing she did after hearing she won the jackpot was call her children.
This is the fourth time a $50-million jackpot was won in Quebec.
