MONTREAL – A six-year-old boy is in hospital fighting for his life, after he collided with a van Sunday morning in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough.
Montreal police were called to the scene on Biencourt Street at 11:40 a.m.
According to police, the collision happened when the driver of a van who was in an alley, attempted to turn onto Biencourt Street.
At the same moment, the little boy who was on his bike, collided with the vehicle. It is unclear whether he was wearing a helmet at the time.
The boy was taken to hospital in critical condition. Police fear for his life.
The driver of the van, a 44-year-old man, was also taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
Montreal police say speed and alcohol were not contributing factors in the crash.
Collsion experts are investigating at he scene in an attempt to shed light on the circumstance surrounding the tragic incident.
