MONTREAL – After 10 hours of hearings, Quebec’s Liquor Control Board ruled Friday that a Montreal nightclub can remain open despite an urgent request by Montreal police(SPVM) to have it shut down.
The request was made following the attempted murder of a presumed gang member outside the Muzique nightclub on Saint-Laurent Boulevard less than a week ago.

Police cited public safety concerns in their motion to have the club’s license revoked.
Fréderic Dubé, an investigator with the SPVM said police fear possible retaliatory action by gang members for last Monday’s shooting.
Meanwhile, the owners of the club said they were putting measures in place to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
