The man accused of tormenting B.C. teen Amanda Todd before her suicide is heading for an extradition hearing next month in Amsterdam.
Aydin Coban is accused of pressuring youth in several countries into performing sexual acts on webcams and then using the images to then blackmail them.
The RCMP announced charges against Coban in 2014 in connection with the Todd case, including extortion and luring a child under the age of 18.
Todd was 15 years old when she committed suicide in October 2012 after she was bullied online.
In October 2015, the lawyer representing Coban said Todd’s entire case is being left out of the Dutch prosecution against him. At the time, Christian Van Dijk, Coban’s lawyer, said it was because Canadian prosecutors were trying to have Coban extradited here to face similar charges.
Coban still faces sextortion charges and is accused of spreading child pornography, involving international victims including one other Canadian.
Coban was arrested in 2014 and is a Dutch national of Turkish descent.
