WINNIPEG – The province has issued a high water advisory for lakes in the Whiteshell area.

Recent rainfall and late spring run-off are being behind the rise in water levels, according to the Hydrologic Forecast Centre.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The province says West Hawk Lake is close to the top of its operating range and Falcon Lake is above its operating range.

As a result, some low-lying cottages may be at risk.

Depending on rainfall amounts, the high water could be in place for close to a month.
