EDMONTON – A 32-year-old man is facing multiple charges including first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a woman in the community of Inglewood early Monday morning.
On Tuesday, a medical examiner confirmed 30-year-old Nicole Leeanne Cooney died from a gunshot wound.
At around 12:30 a.m. Monday, officers were called to a shooting near 117 Avenue and 128 Street as well as a weapons complaint nearby and later determined the two calls were connected.
At around 5:30 a.m., police said the weapons complaint had been resolved and that a suspect had been arrested.

Lenny Lavallee is charged with first-degree murder, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Police said Cooney’s death is the city’s 16th homicide of 2016.
