EPS investigate random stabbing that sent man to hospital

EDMONTON – Police continue to investigate after a man was randomly stabbed in the back while walking in central Edmonton Saturday afternoon.

It happened along 106 Avenue and 124 Street at around 5 p.m.

Police said they were told a man and a woman were walking when someone allegedly brushed up against the man. A few minutes later, the man, in his 20s, was in pain and realized he had been stabbed.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Someone driving by witnessed the attack and called police before going to help the victim.

Police said the incident appears to be a random attack and that they are now looking for a suspect described as a man in his early 20s who was wearing dark clothing.

No one is in custody and police are looking for witnesses as they continue to investigate.
