Elizabeth May in Winnipeg hoping to boost support for Manitoba’s Green Party

WINNIPEG — Federal Green Party Leader, Elizabeth May was in Winnipeg Friday showing her support for her party ahead of the provincial election.

May made several appearances with James Beddome, the leader of the Manitoba Green Party and Wolseley candidate, David Nickarz.

The three were at the Green Party headquarters Friday afternoon, explaining why Manitobans should vote Green come election day.

“I am the only federal party leader to come here for the provincial election campaign,” said May.

“This year is when the Greens make the breakthrough in the Manitoba legislature.”

May touched up on topics such as reducing poverty, global warming and pollution in the province.

“We have provided an alternative in Wolseley,” said Nickarz.

“This is the strongest Green riding in Manitoba. I don’t think we’re a fringe party, as James [Beddome] showed that in the debate.”

Voters head to the polls April 19.
