Backstreet’s back, sort of.
Five-member former boy band Backstreet Boys is heading to Las Vegas for a brief residency, joining the likes of Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez. The ’90s group has nine shows scheduled so far, all are part of their upcoming 130-stop world tour.
“We signed a deal with Live Nation to do nine shows just to do a test in the market,” Nick Carter revealed to CNN. “We’ve always had interest in performing in Vegas.”

No specific dates have been named yet.
“It would definitely have to be a very big and spectacular show,” Carter added. “Thankfully, we have a good catalogue so we can perform all of our hits. That could take up a lot of the show.”
The group, which also includes Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean and Kevin Richardson, is reportedly back in the studio making new music.

Don’t expect only cheesy romantic ballads from the band, says Carter.
The guys are collaborating with “young, hot producers that can give us a fresh new sound,” he insists. “When it comes to the music, we want to make sure we have hits.”
