IHIT investigating after body found in Burnaby

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating after a body was found in Burnaby on Sunday night.

According to the Burnaby RCMP, gun shots were heard around 8 p.m on Sunday night by residents in the 7300-block of Sandborne Avenue in Burnaby.

Police arrived and after a search found the body of a male on the Byrne Creek Trail.

Burnaby RCMP Sgt. Derek Thibodeau said they do not believe this is linked to any other Burnaby investigations.

The case is now being turned over to IHIT.
