WINNIPEG — Manitoba’s police watchdog is looking in to an alleged assault involving an officer in Brandon.

A member of the Brandon Police Service responded to a domestic dispute call on Mar. 16, when the officer allegedly assaulted one of the people involved. No one was badly hurt.

The Independent Investigation Unit is now looking into it.

The IIU investigates all serious incidents involving police officers in Manitoba, whether occurring on or off duty.

Members of the Brandon Police Service do not wear body cameras. The City of Winnipeg is postponing its body camera pilot project following a public spat over the police budget.
