CALGARY – Hockey is Canada’s game, even when there is no ice in sight.

The Rogers Hometown Hockey festival was held Saturday at Olympic Plaza in downtown Calgary.

Hundreds of people came out to celebrate the game, play a little hockey and meet some of their NHL heroes.

It’s a full weekend of free activities, live music and a chance to meet NHL Alumni.

The entire festival will culminate with Ron MacLean hosting the broadcast of the Calgary Flames versus the Montreal Canadiens game on Sunday night.
