UPDATE: The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is deploying a team of investigators to Victoria after two barges ran aground Wednesday night. Investigators will be gathering information and assessing the situation.
One of the two barges was removed Thursday morning.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says the second barge remains on the beach. The owner and salvager are working on plans to remove it today if conditions permit. Coast Guard is monitoring the situation.

Victoria residents woke up on Thursday morning to the sight of two barges that ran aground near Dallas Road waterfront.
There are reports a tug boat lost control of the two barges Wednesday night.
One of the barges ran aground near Cook Street near Beacon Hill Park, the other ended up ashore near Olympia Avenue.
Victoria Police tweeted they were aware of the incident last night, but could not do much until the weather subsided.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says there are no reports of pollution in the area, and Canadian Coast Guard is monitoring the situation.
It does not appear anyone was injured.
The City of Victoria is now asking the public to keep distance while a multi-agency response is underway to stabilize and remove the two barges.
