CALGARY – A townhouse in the community of Queensland had to be evacuated early Thursday morning after a fire broke out.
The blaze in the 200 block of Queensland Drive S.E. started at around 4:20 a.m.
Three occupants living in the suite where the fire started were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived, thanks to a smoke alarm which woke them.
Three other units were evacuated as a precaution.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire and keep the damage contained to the unit of origin, using high-capacity fans to remove smoke from an adjoining suite.
Firefighters rescued a cat from the suite where the fire started.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
