WINNIPEG – He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is also a Grammy Award winner and Canadian rock legend. Now, some are saying he’s getting a bit too old.
A Change.org petition has called for Neil Young, 70, to legally change his name to “Neil Old”, in order to properly reflect his age.
“The name Neil Young promises a certain youthfulness to the uninformed listener and, while his alto singing voice remains boyish, it has become a matter of false advertisement,” the petition said.
“It’s time for ‘Shakey’ to face the facts: he’s not a young man anymore and every passing day makes his name more of a misnomer.”
The ‘cheeky’ petition has more than 600 signatures so far, and was apparently created by a user named Noah Landers from the United States.
Some people have turned social media to either agree with the name change or call out the absurd request.
